Having sold his Van Diemen RF79 to Rick Payne at the end of last year Keith has recently purchased the Van Diemen RF82 that Frank Winterlik had for sale. It is great to see Keith back in a competitive car again and we look forward to seeing him on the Formula Ford grid for the remainder of this season and in the years to come.
The B.C. Historic Motor Races were run on the Aug.20/21/2016 weekend. This was the 29th year for the event which features vintage and antique cars from across Western Canada and the U.S. Pacific Northwest. It is a fun event for the motoring public and drivers alike, being a stand alone race it is not part of any club racing championship series. Six Formula Fords attended the event and their weekend consisted of 6 races over the 2 days. The last race on Sunday was the Hagerty Formula Festival Race for the Westwood Trophy which was won by Alan McColl in his Tiga FF77. While Alan McColl won all six […]
For this the 4th race weekend in the CACC Championship we had both Olov Brandfors and Alan Baker rejoining the group. Race #1 Qualifying for Saturday afternoon’s race was a tight affair. Alan McColl in his #03 MCE Motors Tiga FF77 was the quickest of the Formula Ford drivers outpacing Doug Floer in his #62 Topsoft Computing Systems Inc. Van Diemen RF94 by less than 4 tenths of a second. They were followed by Olov Brandfors in his #88 Firecreek Motorsport Crossle 40/45F, Dave McKay in his KV Enterprises/Bad Dog Business Lola 644 and Alan Baker in his #21 Van Diemen RF89. In the race Alan McColl took the […]
We would like to welcome Martin Phillips from Vancouver to our Formula Ford group. He has just recently purchased a 1991 Van Diemen RF91 that was in Calgary. Martin has a lot of racing experience having raced Formula Vees at Mission Raceway for many years and winning several Formula Vee Championships during that time. We wish him well with his new car and many years of fun racing in Formula Ford. He is hoping to be to able to bring his new car out to a race this season and we look forward to seeing him out in it.
The traditional Labour Day long weekend date that this ICSCC race occupied had to be vacated this year due to a major drag racing meet scheduled for that time in September. Next year we should have our September long weekend date back and we will once again be able to host 3 days of ICSCC racing. From across the border we were joined by ICSCC Club Ford regulars Dave Reich , from Portland, OR, and Larry Bangert from Issaquah, WA. We would like to thank both of them for making the effort to come up and join us at Mission Raceway for this event. Race #1 Since our last […]
For this race weekend our series regulars were joined by 2 newcomers, both Don Nimi and Jim Bradley were making their Formula Ford road racing debuts. Don was driving his 1984 Van Diemen RF84 as his Crossle Formula Ford , which he wants to be his road racing car, wasn’t ready for this event. Jim brought over from Victoria his very nicely prepared 1972 Elden PH10B vintage Formula Ford. It was great to have both of these drivers joining us at Mission Raceway and we hope to see more of them this year. Race #1 The Formula Ford qualifying session for the race on Saturday was once […]
April 16/17/2016 Race Report The start to the 2016 CACC Formula Ford racing season was less than impressive, in fact it could only be described as down right disappointing. For the first race weekend on April 16 & 17 only Doug Floer and Alan Cruickshank had their cars ready on time. Unfortunately Alan crashed his car during the Friday practice day and was forced to withdraw from the weekend due to the damage. It was an excellent opportunity for Doug to get accustomed to his new ride for this year, he had sold his championship winning 1981 Van Diemen RF81 over the winter and purchased a 1994 Van Diemen […]

Don advises he and Mark have just purchased a 1982 Crossle 50F for himself and Mark to race at Mission this season. Some of you may remember Don from when he raced a sedan at Westwood back in the 1980s. More recently he and Mark have been heavily involved in the local autocross racing scene. According to Don it is their intention to share the driving duties on race weekends. I would like to officially welcome them both back to road racing at Mission as I am sure they will be great addition to the group.
On Sunday January 31/2016 we had our 4th annual Formula Ford Drivers brunch meeting. It was an opportunity to catch up with friends and competitors during the off season and to engage in some friendly bench racing. We had quite a few drivers attend and it was a very enjoyable time. Based on the interest expressed at this meeting the outlook for the local Formula Ford racing scene for the 2016 season is very promising with some new drivers coming out and some other drivers who have been away for awhile returning to the sport.
