2011 Race Season Draws to a Conclusion

Now that the 2011 season has come to an end, it is time to congratulate the champions. First overall in the Confederation of Automobile Car Clubs (CACC) Formula Ford Championship is Alan McColl of Abbotsford, B.C. in his 1977 Tiga. Of the 8 CACC races held this year at Mission Raceway’s River’s Edge Road Course, Alan won 6 of them. He also finished first in the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs (ICSCC) Club Ford race at Mission on June 19th.

In addition to his winning ways in CACC, Alan also finished 2nd in the Sports Car Club of B.C. (SCCBC) Open Wheel Championship, finishing just 2 points behind the winner Tim Brousse in his Formula Vee. For those not familiar with the SCCBC Open Wheel Championship, it is for all open wheel cars regardless of class, and points are only scored at SCCBC races at Mission and only by SCCBC club members.

Congratulations also go to James Hepburn of Vancouver, B.C. in winning the ICSCC Club Ford Championship in his 1979 Crossle 35F. James also had a banner year as he took 12 wins out of the 15 races that make up the Championship. His Crossle was the epitome of reliability as he finished every race he started and he only failed to start one race throughout the season. An impressive performance over a very demanding race schedule.

Also a large thank you to all the other drivers who came out this year and took part in both the CACC and ICSCC races at Mission Raceway Park Road Course . Without your support and participation there would be no championships to report on and no champions to celebrate with. I look forward to the 2012 race season and hope you can all join us on track at River’s Edge Road Course at Mission Raceway Park.
