The 30th edition of the B.C. Historic Motor Races were held on the August 19/20th weekend. These races did not count for points in either the CACC Formula Ford Championship or the SCCBC Formula Ford Championship for those competitors who participated. In all there were 6 Formula Ford races over the 2 days and 9 Formula Ford drivers were entered. In addition to our local drivers there were 3 out of town drivers who made the trip to Mission Raceway to join the group. They were Chris Schoap from Eugene, Oregon who brought his Titan Mark 6, Doug Lorraine from Three Hills, Alberta in his Lola 540 and Lorne […]
Organized by the Vintage Racing Club of BC this event is a stand alone race weekend and is not part of any championship series. It is a less intense, no pressure weekend of fun racing. We had several drivers from outside of BC join us for the Formula Ford race including Doug Lorraine from Three Hills, Alberta, Mike Adams from Regina, Saskatchewan and Chuck O’Connor from Port Townsend, Washington. Race #1 The 15 minute long Saturday qualifying saw Alan McColl driving is #03 MCE Motors Tiga FF77 grap the pole for the race that afternoon. He was joined on the front row by Doug Floer in his #91 Topsoft […]

May 25/26/2013 This event was organized by the Vintage Racing Club of B.C. (VRCBC) to celebrate 45 years of Formula Ford racing in B.C. It was open to all Formula Fords from vintage to the modern day cars. While not a round in the CACC Championship, it is a stand alone event that is billed as a weekend to enjoy all the exotic vintage cars that show up and have some low-key fun racing. Race #1 Following a dry morning practice/warm up session the overcast skies darkened and the clouds became more threatening. Sure enough by the time qualifying rolled around, in the early afternoon, the rain was falling […]

Attention all Formula Ford Drivers and Owners: Plans are now almost completed to stage Formula Ford’s 45th Birthday Party as part of the 2013 B.C. Historic Motor Races (BCHMR) event to be held at Mission Raceway Park. We would like to invite all of you to come join us, the event will most likely be held in either late July or early August. We will have a firm date towards to the end of January 2013 once the road racing schedule for Mission Raceway Park is set by the Sports Car Club of B.C. Once we have been given confirmation of the date we will communicate it to all the […]
At every BC Historic Motor Races in recent memory, Liz and Bob Smith have awarded a ‘M.G. Morris, the Mission Moose’ to deserving drivers in races or – on rare occasions – for other activities. Because the actual criteria for receiving an M.G. Morris is a state secret, it is impossible for drivers to practice and train to try to win one. Therefore, it is always a great surprise and honour to have Liz stop you in Pit Lane by the Big Moose sign and present you with your very own Mission Moose. I somehow think there was copious amounts of alcohol involved when this award was dreamt up. For […]

That’s Alan McColl (1977 Tiga), Dave McKay (1984 Lola T644), Charlie Lyford (1970 Caldwell D9b), Keith Robinson (1979 Van Diemen RF79), Chris Schoap (1970 Titan FF Mark VI) and Jim Johnson (1972 March 729) all charging into Turn 2 together. Watch for race results soon.
