I don’t recall the model of car I drove but for 8 British Pounds (about $20!), a week’s wages, I got to drive up and down a short straight between some cones in one gear! In 1970, now living in Toronto, I wrenched on a Winkleman/Palliser for one of the Bulova Formula Ford Championship competitors and my reward was the use of his car for my Novice race at Harewood Acres (Niagara […]
On Sunday January 29/2017 we had our 5th annual Formula Ford Drivers brunch meeting. We had 12 drivers attend and it was a very enjoyable time. The meeting was an opportunity to catch up with friends and competitors during the off season and to engage in some friendly bench racing. The 2017 season should be very interesting as we will have a number of new drivers coming out to join our regular group from last season in addition there will also be a couple of drivers who have been away for awhile returning to the sport.

We would like to welcome William Kwan from Burnaby to our Formula Ford group. He purchased a 1975 Van Diemen RF75 a couple of years ago from a fellow on Vancouver Island and Keith Robinson has been going over the car for him to get it back into racing condition. We wish him well with his new car and many years of racing fun in Formula Ford. We look forward to seeing out at our first race in April.

A demonstration of the latest in race car alignment technology was performed at the SCCBC race at Mission Raceway Park on July 12. Marty Knoll of MK Technologies, Canada’s leading motorsport pit equipment product manufacturer, brought the latest in his company’s lineup to perform a complete balancing and alignment of Alan McColl’s vintage 1977 Tiga Formula Ford. Plenty of formula drivers were on hand to take in the technical demonstration. First, an MKT A-Frame Lift was setup from its collapsed, portable state. This lift has a 2000-lb capacity and effortlessly hoisted the 900-lb Tiga to a comfortable working height. With the lift on casters, we were able to quickly reposition the unit with the suspended car to […]
