Oct. 9-10/2016 Race Report

This final race weekend of the 2016 season was dedicated to the memory of long time Westwood racer and Sports Car Club of B.C. member Tony Morris who passed away earlier this year after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be missed in our local racing community.   Race #1 With only 1 point separating Doug Floer and Alan McColl in the CACC Formula Ford Championship and 21 points separating them in the SCCBC Formula Ford Championship this final race weekend had a lot riding on it. For both these competitors good finishes in all 3 races this weekend were going to be essential in order to claim […]

This was the 29th year for the event which features vintage and antique cars from across Western Canada and the U.S. Pacific Northwest. It is a fun event for the motoring public and drivers alike, being a stand alone race it is not part of any club racing championship series. Six Formula Fords attended the event and their weekend consisted of 6 races over the 2 days. The last race on Sunday was the Hagerty Formula Festival Race for the Westwood Trophy which was won by Alan McColl in his Tiga FF77. While Alan McColl won all six […]

August 6/7/2016 Race Report

For this the 4th race weekend in the CACC Championship we had both Olov Brandfors and Alan Baker rejoining the group. Race #1 Qualifying for Saturday afternoon’s race was a tight affair. Alan McColl in his #03 MCE Motors Tiga FF77 was the quickest of the Formula Ford drivers outpacing Doug Floer in his #62 Topsoft Computing Systems Inc. Van Diemen RF94 by less than 4 tenths of a second. They were followed by Olov Brandfors in his #88 Firecreek Motorsport Crossle 40/45F, Dave McKay in his KV Enterprises/Bad Dog Business Lola 644 and Alan Baker in his #21 Van Diemen RF89. In the race Alan McColl took the […]

Welcome Martin Phillips.

We would like to welcome Martin Phillips from Vancouver to our Formula Ford group. He has just recently purchased a 1991 Van Diemen RF91 that was in Calgary. Martin has a lot of racing experience having raced Formula Vees at Mission Raceway for many years and winning several Formula Vee Championships during that time. We wish him well with his new car and many years of fun racing in Formula Ford. He is hoping to be to able to bring his new car out to a race this season and we look forward to seeing him out in it.

July 9-10/2016 Race Report

The traditional Labour Day long weekend date that this ICSCC race occupied had to be vacated this year due to a major drag racing meet scheduled for that time in September. Next year we should have our September long weekend date back and we will once again be able to host 3 days of ICSCC racing. From across the border we were joined by ICSCC Club Ford regulars Dave Reich , from Portland, OR, and Larry Bangert from Issaquah, WA. We would like to thank both of them for making the effort to come up and join us at Mission Raceway for this event. Race #1 Since our last […]

June 11/12/2016 Race Report

For this race weekend our series regulars were joined by 2 newcomers, both Don Nimi and Jim Bradley were making their Formula Ford road racing debuts. Don was driving his 1984 Van Diemen RF84 as his Crossle Formula Ford , which he wants to be his road racing car, wasn’t ready for this event. Jim brought over from Victoria his very nicely prepared 1972 Elden PH10B vintage Formula Ford. It was great to have both of these drivers joining us at Mission Raceway and we hope to see more of them this year.   Race #1 The Formula Ford qualifying session for the race on Saturday was once […]

April 16/17/2016 & April 30/May 1/2016 Race Reports

April 16/17/2016 Race Report The start to the 2016 CACC Formula Ford racing season was less than impressive, in fact it could only be described as down right disappointing. For the first race weekend on April 16 & 17 only Doug Floer and Alan Cruickshank had their cars ready on time. Unfortunately Alan crashed his car during the Friday practice day and was forced to withdraw from the weekend due to the damage. It was an excellent opportunity for Doug to get accustomed to his new ride for this year, he had sold his championship winning 1981 Van Diemen RF81 over the winter and purchased a 1994 Van Diemen […]

Keith Robinson leading Dave McKay and Lorne Andras in Turn #2. Photo courtesy of Ann McColl.

Welcome back Rick Payne.

Rick has recently purchased Keith Robinson’s Van Diemen RF79 and his plan is to race it a few times at Mission Raceway Park this coming season. He advises that he will not be able to run in all the races at Mission as his main focus will be on defending his SCCA Formula F National Champion title at the Runoffs in September at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. It has been a couple of years since we have had Rick race with us at Mission and I am sure he will be very competitive in his new ride. We look forward to seeing the familiar brown and yellow Payton Pools colours […]

October 10/11/2015 Race Report

With the SCCBC Formula Ford Championship still up for grabs, this final race weekend of the season would determine our 2015 Champion. Alan McColl had already captured the CACC Formula Ford Championship and at this late stage of the season had a 17 point advantage in the SCCBC Formula Ford Championship. Doug Floer still had a chance at the title but he needed to be at his best and he needed Alan to have an off weekend which was asking a lot based on Alan’s prior performances this year. Race #1 The Saturday morning qualifying session was on a wet track and the weather forecast called for rain throughout the […]
